Homemade Granola

For this recipe you will need:
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup brown sugar
6 T butter, melted
1/2 t salt
4 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1/3 cup wheat germ
1 T vanilla
1 cup sliced almonds
Preheat oven ro 300 degrees. Line cookie sheets with tin foil. In a large bowl, combine the honey, brown sugar, butter, salt and vanilla. Add the oats and wheat germ, then stir the mixture until it is evenly blended.

Spread the granol onto the cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Stirring once to keep it from burning.

Remove the pan from the oven and stir granola again. Add the almonds and return the pan to the oven and bake for 10 more minutes. ( Keep an eye on the granola so it doesn't burn)

Remove the granola and stir one last time. Allow it to cool completely on the pan, about 15 min.

Once cool it's ready to be eaten. Wes decided to add fresh peaches to his granola.

While I on the other hand added key lime yogurt. Whatever you prefer this is a great and easy recipe. Plus it makes extras, so you can just put it in a ziploc bag for later. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did.

Note: If you would like you could also add coconut, dried magos, pineapples, blueberries, cherries toasted macadamia nuts, or whatever else you can think of. Just add these ingredients after you take them out of the oven. Then put the pan back in for 10 more minutes.
