Lately I've been into sewing. It's become my new hobby. So, it was a no brainer that for Christmas this year I was going to give handmade gifts. After many long hours staying up late, trips to Wal-Mart for more fabric and getting frustrated at my sewing machine I can now say I'm very pleased how everything turned out. ( Sorry about some of the pictures. It was late and my mother in law didn't have very good lighting for picture taking.)
The Crayon Roll

I made this little beauty for my niece. It turned out really cute and it was super easy to make. I just used what fabric I already had. I did buy the green fabric from Wal-Mart but it was only $0.49, definately worth it.

This crayon roll is perfect for church. No more messy ziploc bags stuffed to the brim. You can find the pattern here.
Fabric Alphabet Letters

I came across this tutorial to make these fabric letters and knew I had to make some for Sophie.

I bought some fabric scrap bags on etsy, it was a great way to use all the fun fabrics I got.

For the backs of the letters I used my Great Grandfathers blanket. I loved the texture and color. Plus, it adds sentimental value.

All of the letters need a bag right? We used one of my Great Grandfathers blankets and stitched the letters on front and made a ribbon drawstring.
Ribbon Tags Crinkle Square

When I saw this tutorial I knew it would be the perfect gift for my sister in law who's expecting in February. Instead of flannel I used minky fabric on both sides. Which I actually like alot better. The pink elephant is great too because you can attach it to anything! I got the pattern for it here.
Frog Beanbag

While visiting family for the holiday I came across this tutorial to make this frog and had to make it. My mom and I decided to use some of my scraps instead of the same fabric. It took alot longer to make but I'm very pleased with how it turned out. It only took us about 2 hours to make.

Instead of using buttons for the eyes we decided to use felt. So it was more Sophie friendly. The only this is it's really heavy! Maybe next time I make one I'll use rice or smaller beans. :)
Fabric Jingle Balls

I noticed awhile back that Sophie LOVES balls, but we didn't have any. So instead of buying some I decided to make her some. I also put a jingle bell inside. I got the idea and pattern here.

The nice thing is the pattern has different sizes you can make. I made two of each size making a total of 6 balls.
Black Apple Dolls

I also made some dolls using this pattern. This particular doll was given to my niece.

I decided to make this one some blue shoes.

This was the very first one I made. It actually turned out pretty cute huh?
So, there you have it. All the gifts I made for Christmas this year. It was a lot of work but I'm so glad I did it. Now, what should I start on for Sophie's birthday? I have a few ideas up my sleeve.

The crayon roll is the biggest seller at the 5th grade Market Days!
I love your creative talent Jess. Handmade gifts are the best and I know Sophie loves them all. Sewing is something that really lets you express your creativity so KEEP SEWING. I remember when Pres. Hinckley told the young sisters of the church to learn to sew. A lot of people in the audience started to laugh. I smiled knowing you already had a sewing machine and a love for creating your own things. You are a awesome daughter, sister, wife and mom. Love ya LOTS.
wow, you've been busy! I love the alphabet. I wonder if you could glue magnets on the back? hmmmm.... they'd be so cute on the fridge.
I have just one word to describe you....Amazing!!!!!
