Yellowstone Trip: Day One

On Thursday we went on a road trip to Yellowstone. Oliver wasn't quite sure what was happening.

 But was happy anyway.
We weren't expecting it to be winter. It was freezing!

We stayed in West Yellowstone in Montana. Right by our hotel they had a Grizzly and Wolves Discovery Center. All of these animals are unable to survive in the wild.

Sophie loved throwing snowballs

After the Discovery Center we decided to drive into Yellowstone.

It was so beautiful with a fresh blanket of snow covering the forest.

We got to see a herd of elk resting in the grass.
I was explaining to Sophie that the boy Elk had the horns and all the others were girls. She thought for a minute then said, " But where are the baby elk?"
After searching we did find one baby elk.

We also stopped at some Hot Springs.

It was so cold outside that it made the springs really steamy.

We were in awe at the beauty that surrounded us. It was breathtaking.

What a GRAND ADVENTURE. . . . great timing too so you could see Yellowstone in fall and winter. Love the pictures of everyone all bundled up. I'd like to go back and visit again, it's such beautiful country.

Matt says that some of the stuffs he grows in the Lab and works with everyday are growing naturally in the hot springs of yellowstone. Pretty cool

Next time you go stop in Rexburg Idaho and go to Yellowstone Bear World. It's a lot like the Discovery center, but TONS more fun. They have an animal area you drive through and the bears, elk, wolves, deer, buffalo will come right up to your car! They also have a petting zoo, amuzement park rides, and a bear cub park. Your kids will love it! http://www.yellowstonebearworld.com/
