Finding the perfect tree

We really wanted a real Christmas tree this year. So, we went to the forest ranger station in town and bought a permit. For $10. Then we set off to Willow Creek Canyon to find the perfect tree.

We saw lots of wild turkeys
and Deer
Finally we found a spot worth checking out and started the search for the perfect tree.
I wanted to get a picture of me hiking with the saw to let you all know I was in on the action too. This was the best one I could get and yes, I did hike around on the mountain 9 months pregnant. I couldn't let Wes and Sophie have all the fun.
I think Wes might have found "the one" and I'm pretty sure Sophie is totally confused as to what we are doing. Hiking around on the mountain in the snow carrying a saw.
Look up on the mountain! It's Bigfoot!!
After searching for quite sometime we came upon this tree. Wes is trying to decide how tall it really is. Because you can't cut anything higher than 8 feet tall. It might work don't you think?
Sophie and I decided to wait by this tree while Wes searched some more. It was starting to get dark and chilly. Can you tell?
We finally decided on this tree. Wes is hard at work trying to cut it down.
Once we all got down the mountain safely we strapped it really good to the top of our car. That's one thing I love about our Subaru. It can drive really well in the snow and you can tie things to the top. Perfect for Christmas Trees.
Here it is. The perfect Christmas Tree. Once we got it where we wanted it I had Wes measure it to see how tall it was. Our ceiling is 8ft 5in and the tree is 7ft 11in.
As for decorating and lights that will have to wait another night. I'm kind of exhausted. We had tons of fun searching the mountain for the perfect tree and are very happy with it. It's starting to feel and smell a lot like Christmas over here.
