When our water broke.....

Sleep came easy for me last night. It usually doesn't. We have 15 more days until Oliver comes. I keep dreaming that in the middle of the night my water will break. At midnight Wes heard a popping sound and looked around frantically for any water in bed. But as I was still fast asleep he figured it was nothing and went back to sleep.
At 2am I awoke to the sound of water. Our heater had kicked on but something didn't sound right. I woke up Wes and asked him if he could go look around. He didn't. So, I got out of bed and started searching around the house. When your heater turns on your not supposed to hear running water. After finding nothing wrong I went back to bed and said a prayer that I would feel comfort and we would be okay. But I didn't feel comforted. Something didn't feel right and I knew something was wrong. Finally I told Wes that maybe he should go down to the cellar and check things out. I knew something was wrong and I couldn't ignore that feeling.
Wes grabbed his flashlight and headed outside to where our cellar is. After a few minutes I heard him say, " Yeah, there's probably about 3 feet of water down here. I'm not sure how to turn off the water." He was talking to our landlord who was on his way over to help out. Wes did get the water turned off and our landlord thankfully owns a dumpster company so he had the equipment to suck the water out of the basement. The entire time this is happening I'm just hoping and praying that MY water doesn't break!
After a few hours of sucking out the water, digging and bringing things out of the cellar they found the problem. Our tap in the front of the house had a leak in one of the pipes and had flooded the cellar.
We don't have any water at the moment but I'm so glad that we caught the problem early. If I would have ignored the feeling I felt and waited until morning we would most likely have water throughout the house. I'm so grateful for the prompting I felt and that I followed it because if I didn't things would be much worse. I'm also grateful for a good landlord who came so quickly and is still working hard to get the problem fixed.

Here is the 5 ft hole that they dug early this morning by the front of our house.
This is what had caused all of that water in the cellar. A small leak in the pipe.
Here is a look out of Oliver's bedroom window. Those are our steps down to the cellar. Water was up to the first step at the very bottom.
There were a bunch of random things down in the cellar. Old water heaters, wood and I think that's springs for a mattress.

Moral of the story: I'm glad that my water didn't break during all of this and I'm grateful for the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Only 15 more days to go until Oliver is here. I just hope things can calm down a bit over here until then. There never is a dull moment over at the Womble's house.

WOW. . . . . I can't believe this story. I'm so GRATEFUL that it wasn't YOUR water, just the houses's water that broke. It's quite an adventure that you had in the middle of the night. I'm glad you are all o.k, a little WET but still o.k.
What a story you can tell Oliver.

Water Breaking because of a baby is great news but having a pipe break is not good news. I am sorry that you spent all night digging our dirt and pumping up water. So glad that you were listening to the still small voice and got up to save your house. Hope you get some sleep and hopefully next time you hear water it will be little Oliver breaking out.

What is it with water issues in our family lately? Jess I am glad that everything worked out. Sleepless nights are not fun for anyone, and I'm sure for you being 9 months pregnant. You are a great example to me of following those quiet promptings of the Spirit. You are great. Sending sweet dreams your way.
